Professor gave
a brief idea about how examination system is designed and details about marks
allocation and calculation in this session.
·
Semester system: 2 semester – Fall semester and Winter semester
·
Examination process begins with the announcements from COE (Controller of
examination) for CAT and FAT – Schedules – Dos and Don’ts
·
Students and faculties are advised to check VIT official email regularly
·
Examination will be based o slot system A to G – CAT will be from
academic office and FAT will be from CoE
Eligibility
for examination
·
Minimum 75% of attendance is compulsory
·
Students will be debarred if less than 75% of attendance
·
There should not be any in disciplinary activity which might lead to
suspension
·
Not withdrawn from the course – once the student is withdrawn from the
course they are not eligible to attend the final exam if they wish to take the
same

components and calculations of each component discussed in detail
CAT I -15
marks, CAT II -15 marks, internal assessment – 30 marks (10*3 assignments) and
FAT -40 marks
*Marks: Weighted
Passing
Criteria
·
Minimum 40 marks in FAT alone
·
Minimum 50 marks from Laboratory and/ or project component
·
Grand total should be more than 50 – for all other course types except
the theory class
Grading:
School follows 2 grading systems
1.
Absolute grading if number of students are less than or equal to 10
2.
Relative grading if number of students - more than 10

Updating attendance on
day to day basis
·
In case of long
absenteeism or frequent absenteeism inform the concerned proctor
·
Give a clear
instruction of internal evaluation in the first class – which method will be
used Quiz/ surprise test/ mini projects
– this facilitates students decision in adding dropping course
Though i have worked in deemed to be university and I see that different category (L,T,P,J) of man-hours and evaluation systems looks too good. , different components. I am impressed with the J component and counting in the total credit system. Good effort and work by VIT Institute

ReplyDeleteEven though I have fifteen years of experience into teaching, many concepts were new to me like Relative Grading/Absolute Grading, Explanation about Grade, Combination of various components and weightage of marks, FFCS, University Electives, the Examination Pattern, etc really new to me, but you made it very light and explained patiently all the minute aspects related to examination and evaluation. Thank you very much for all your inputs sir.
